MAC NICOL’S COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS
The following protocols and guidelines have been put together to protect our staff and guests. They have been carefully planned with recommendations from the World Health Organization, South African Government, Department of Tourism and SAITR organisation.
ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN:
- Before arrival, all guests will be required to read our pre-arrival safety procedure and acknowledge that no guest has had any international travel, contact or exposure to COVID19 or symptoms and are safe to travel.
- On Arrival, all guests will be required to wear masks, sanitise, sign a declaration of health and have their temperatures taken with a non-contact thermometer.
- No guests will be allowed entry without a mask.
- Guests displaying any symptoms or a temperature above the safe zone will be denied entry.
- Only one member from a group’s vehicle will be allowed in the office area to complete check – in.
- The office has been equipped with PPE’s and Perspex shields at the counter.
- Regular surfaces such as pens and pin keypads will sanitised after each use. Additional areas and surfaces will be cleaned periodically throughout the day.
- All guests will be required to settle their bill prior on arrival to minimise contact with office staff.
- All unnecessary items such as magazine, books, chairs, etc will be removed from the office area.
- Guests will not be allowed past the designated check in zone under any circumstance.
- Masks are required at all times within the office.
LOG CABINS:
- The log cabins will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitised before each arrival.
- Our daily servicing will be suspended until further notice to reduce contact with staff and guests.
- We will implement a 1 day block gap between all booking to allow for a complete cleaning and sanitising of the units before the next guests arrive.
- All log cabins will be have hand sanitisers provided.
- All housekeeping/cleaning staff is supplied with hand sanitizer/cleaner, to be used on a regular basis.
ABLUTIONS:
- All ablutions will have hand sanitiser provided at the door for guests to use.
- Ablutions will be cleaned throughout the day.
- Ablutions will be sanitised thoroughly twice a day.
- We ask all guests to only use the ablutions in their specified area.
STAFF:
- All of our staff have been provided with PPE’s.
- All of our staff have been educated on health safety standards for themselves and for our guests.
- Staff’s temperature will be taken and recorded regularly.

SHOP:
- The shop will be open during allowed times for both guests and visitors.
- Masks are required at all times and by everyone entering the shop. No Mask = No Entry
- All visitors to the shop from outside the park, will need to sanitise at the provided station by the gate.
- All guest visiting the shop, will be required to sanitise at the provided station outside the shop.
- Delivery personnel will be required to sanitise, wear a mask and have their temperature taken when entering the premise.
- The bottle store will be open up at limited times and days in accordance to the restrictions laid out in the most current government Gazette.
CAMPSITES:
- All campsite bookings will be spaced apart to maximise social distancing between guests.
- The capacity of each area of the park will also be carefully monitored and controlled for guest safety.
PARK FACILITIES:
- The capacity of each area of the park will also be carefully monitored and controlled for guest safety.
- Tables, chairs, loungers ,etc will be spaced out in accordance to regulations.
- Park facilities will be closed temporally during cleaning and sanitising.
- Social distancing practises are required in all areas of the park except for the people within your group.
GUEST PROTOCOLS:
The below protocols have been put in place to ensure the safety of both our guests and our staff. Guests failing to adhere to the protocols will be asked to leave the premise.
Arrival Procedure:
On arrival to the park, ALL guests will be required to:
• Sanitize their hands
• Wear a mask
• Sign a declaration for tracing purposes.
• Have their temperature taken and recorded with a non-contact thermometer
• Practice social distancing
• Only one member from a group’s vehicle will be allowed in the office area to complete check – in.
• Anyone showing symptoms or have a temperature above the recommended zone, will be not be allowed to enter the premise.
Masks:
Guests will be required to wear masks except when:
• In their log cabin or campsite.
• While eating or drinking
• When sitting together in a related small group, in well-spaced (2 meters or more apart) outdoor areas
Guest Movements within the premises:
Guests will be allowed to move around the premise provided they adhere to the above protocols and practice appropriate social distancing as described below.
• The space between any persons in public areas and back of house areas should be a minimum of 1.5 metres at all times, with two metres preferred.
• Guests from the same small family/friend group who are travelling together or share a room or car can be close to each other
STAFF PROTOCOLS:
The below protocols have been put in place to ensure the safety of both our guests and our staff.
All staff will be required to:
- Have their temperature taken on arrival and recorded with a non-contact thermometer
- Wear a mask if within 1.5 meters of other staff or guest
- Practise regular hygiene like hand-washing and using sanitiser (70%+ alcohol content).
- Keeping social distance of staff and guest when applicable.
- Disinfect all often-touched surfaces frequently
- Report any symptoms to management immediately
